Everything you need to get started with McGraw Plus

Installation Guide

McGraw Plus is a browser extension that works with Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Firefox. Follow these steps to install it:

Download the Extension

Go to the latest release page and download the .zip file for your browser.

Extract the Files

Unzip the downloaded file to a folder on your computer. Remember this location - you'll need it in the next step.

Open Browser Extensions

Navigate to your browser's extensions page:
Chrome: chrome://extensions
Edge: edge://extensions
Brave: brave://extensions
Firefox: about:addons

Enable Developer Mode

Toggle on "Developer mode" in the top-right corner (Chrome/Edge/Brave) or use "Load Temporary Add-on" (Firefox).

Load the Extension

Click "Load unpacked" and select the folder where you extracted the extension files.

Start Using

Visit McGraw-Hill Connect. The extension will automatically activate and you'll see the McGraw Plus icon in your toolbar.

Tip: Pin the extension to your toolbar for quick access to settings. Right-click the extension icon and select "Pin".

Features

McGraw Plus enhances your learning experience with these features:

Feature Description
Dark Mode Applies a dark theme to reduce eye strain during late-night study sessions. Works on all pages.
Keyboard Shortcuts Navigate questions, submit answers, and move through assignments using customizable keyboard shortcuts.
Auto-Save Automatically saves your answers as you type, preventing data loss from browser crashes or accidental tab closures.
Timer Display Enhanced always-visible timer for timed quizzes and exams.
Clean Interface Removes ads, promotional banners, and distracting elements so you can focus on your coursework.
Progress Tracking Enhanced progress bars and completion indicators to see exactly where you are in assignments.
Notifications Optional reminders for upcoming assignment deadlines.

Enabling/Disabling Features

Click the McGraw Plus icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup. From there, you can toggle individual features on or off based on your preferences.

Keyboard Shortcuts

McGraw Plus provides keyboard shortcuts to speed up your workflow:

Shortcut Action
Alt + N Next question
Alt + P Previous question
Alt + S Submit answer
Alt + 1-4 Select answer option (multiple choice)
Alt + D Toggle dark mode

Note: Keyboard shortcuts can be customized in the extension settings. These are the default bindings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Chrome 88 or later
  • Firefox 78 or later
  • Edge 88 or later
  • Brave 1.20 or later
  • Opera 74 or later

Troubleshooting

Extension not working on McGraw-Hill Connect

  • Make sure you're on a McGraw-Hill Connect page (URL contains connect.mheducation.com)
  • Try refreshing the page after installing the extension
  • Check that the extension is enabled in your browser's extension settings
  • Clear your browser cache and cookies, then try again

Dark mode not applying correctly

  • Some pages may have elements that override dark mode styling
  • Try toggling dark mode off and on again
  • If specific elements are not themed, please report it on GitHub

Keyboard shortcuts not working

  • Make sure you're focused on the Connect page (click somewhere on the page)
  • Check that keyboard shortcuts are enabled in extension settings
  • Some browser extensions may conflict with shortcuts - try disabling other extensions

Extension disappeared after browser update

  • Developer mode extensions may be disabled after major browser updates
  • Go to your extensions page and re-enable or reload the extension

Important: McGraw Plus only works on McGraw-Hill Connect pages. It will not activate on other websites.
